Glatfelter Literacy Fund
The most prominent 'named area' on campus is, by far, Papermakers Stadium. The descendants of P.H. Glatfelter, founder of the Glatfelter Company located in Spring Grove, named the stadium after the thousands of employees who built the company and the community. For well over 100 years, the Glatfelter name has been synonymous with quality and dedication to quality - factors seen in the local workforce and in the school's approach to education.
Along with honoring the community's papermakers, the generosity of the Glatfelter family members created an endowment that provides continuous income to support our reading and language arts education. Over the years, it has supported additional library offerings; enrichment programs at various grade levels; and expanded time in after-school programs for students who are struggling to read and speak English as a second language for them.
It is a beautiful thing -- to watch a child's face light up when the words on a page suddenly have meaning! Named areas like Papermakers Stadium make beauty like that happen on a daily basis in our schools.
